Publisher FAQ
How do I make money?
50% of the tile revenue is distributed to the lat49 publisher network. Your
portion of those earnings is equivalent to your percentage of total ad serves
during that payment period. Tile inventory that is not sold directly on the
lat49 network will be redirected to an ad call from our ad network partners. Ad
revenue from our network partners will be distributed at a 70% dispersal based
on the ad partners' revenue model. There is also an advertiser referral program
that adds to your income each time an advertiser is referred through your site.

When am I paid?
Payments shall be made within approximately 30 days after the end of each calendar month if your
earned balance is greater than $100.

Will Google, Yahoo, or Microsoft, cut me off from map access if
I use your ads?
There is nothing in the terms of use for any of those map providers that would prohibit you
from using our ads.

What kind of statistics and reporting is available to me?
We track and record detailed information on each tile request made from your site, whether
an ad is served or not. Lat49 reports provide map publishers with information and statistics on
the tile serves, ad impressions and ad click through rates.
We will also be adding new features to the system frequently.
Let us know what is important
to you terms of reporting and we'll work on getting those changes into our product roadmap.

I want to put other ads on my site and not just yours. I assume
this is not an exclusive?
We have no problem at all if you put other ads on your site as long as they do not obscure the
lat49 ads.

I already have ads on my site. Will adding lat49 ads will make my site
too cluttered?
One of our key goals with lat49 is to provide publishers a better way to include advertising on
sites with a strong map component. We offer you better ad presentation options than the status quo.
Instead of shrinking your map by adding ad banners above, below, or beside your map, you can display
ads on your map in an unobtrusive way. We also offer design assistance in ad placement.

What if I don't want a particular ad on my site?
There is currently no way for you to block a particular ad. However, we have an established set
of content policies related to the kind of ads accepted on the
network. If you think an ad violates that policy, or think our policy needs to be updated, please
let us know and we'll look into it. Our product roadmap also includes
functionality for future releases that would allow publishers to block specific ads or advertisers.

What is a 'channel'?
A channel is the grouping of all publisher sites within the same subject category to provide
advertisers with a way to deliver tailored messages to groups users with similar interests. Advertisers
can choose for their ads to run across the whole lat49 network or to target by channel (interest group).

How long will it take me to implement these APIs into my site?
We put a lot of effort into designing an API that makes it easy for developers to incorporate lat49 ads
into their map site. Of course, the exact amount of time depends on your particular site and development team.
However, it is only a few lines of code to get started with lat49, and we think the overall effort will
be less than a half day of work and we are happy to provide assistance and examples. We offer a range of
options that allow you to explore the best UI presentation for your site, and it is worth a half day of
your time to optimize the appearance on your site from our pre-set options.

Will fetching the ads from your server cause a performance impact
on my site? Where do the ads reside?
Fetching the ads from our server will create no more overhead than getting ads
from any other provider. The overall performance impact to your end users should be negligible. If you
are ever concerned about performance impacts or about our server going down, you can very easily remove
or disable the ad-calling code from your site. The ad content resides on our server.
